MVP Project consulting

A solid plan for your MVP
before you build a thing

Independent expert engineers who take a rough idea to a de-risked MVP plan — scope, architecture, a realistic estimate, a timeline and a quote. You leave with a clear, written plan you can act on, whether you build it with us or not.

Expert engineers planning an MVP on a whiteboard

Why plan first

Decide on paper, where changing your mind is free

Less time guessing, more time deciding

Most MVPs go over budget and miss the point because nobody scoped or designed them honestly before the build began. A few days of planning turns a vague idea into a costed, sequenced plan you and your stakeholders can trust — and stops you paying to discover the obvious later.

A plan, not a pitch

When we are planning, we are not bidding for the build. We have no stake in making v1 bigger than it needs to be — so you get an honest scope, an honest estimate, and the smallest plan that actually proves the idea.

A number you can actually defend

You walk away with a realistic estimate, timeline and quote you can take to a board, an investor or a vendor — built from a real work breakdown, not a finger in the air.

Expert engineers, no junior hand-offs

You work directly with people who have designed, shipped and inherited real systems. They know which shortcuts bite and which features can wait, so your v1 stays lean.

What we help with

Everything you need to start with confidence

Four parts to one plan — so you walk into the build knowing what you are making, what it costs, and what could go wrong.

Requirements & scope

We turn what is in your head into a clear, written definition of the MVP — what it must do, for whom, and what waits for later. The goal is the smallest build that proves the idea, so you are not paying to over-engineer a v1 nobody asked for.

  • A written requirements summary: the problem, the users and the core jobs the MVP must do
  • A scoped feature list that separates the must-haves from the nice-to-haves, prioritised by what proves the idea fastest
  • An explicit out-of-scope list, so everyone agrees up front what v1 leaves for later
  • A walkthrough call so your team fully owns the scope, with assumptions and open questions stated openly

System & architecture design

We design the system your MVP will run on — architecture, data model, key integrations and the tech stack — and decide it on paper, where changing your mind is free. The build then starts on solid foundations instead of a guess, so you avoid the expensive rebuild that hits most MVPs six months in.

  • A documented system design: architecture, data model and key API contracts
  • A recommended tech stack with the reasoning behind each choice, in plain English
  • Integration and build-vs-buy calls made deliberately, with the trade-offs spelled out
  • Notes on what scales later and what you can safely defer for now

Estimates, timeline & quote

We break the work down properly and produce a realistic estimate, a timeline with milestones, and a clear quote you can plan a budget and a runway against. You see the true cost and the real cost drivers before you commit — not after the money is spent.

  • A work breakdown that turns the scope into concrete, sized pieces of work
  • A realistic timeline with milestones and the assumptions behind it stated
  • A clear quote or proposal credible enough for a board, an investor or a vendor
  • Cost drivers and savings flagged, with cheaper alternatives where they exist

Plan validation & de-risking

Before you commit, we pressure-test the whole plan independently — scope, design and numbers together — and tell you what is solid, what is missing, and what will bite. We rank the real risks and show you how to cut them down, so you go into the build with eyes open instead of crossed fingers.

  • A ranked list of the real technical and delivery risks, with how to reduce each
  • Gaps and hidden assumptions surfaced before they become expensive surprises
  • An honest read on whether the scope, estimate and timeline are realistic or wishful
  • A go / adjust / rethink verdict with the reasoning, so the decision stays yours

From rough idea to a plan you can act on

A lightweight engagement designed to get you something useful fast — no long ramp-up, no heavy commitment, and no obligation to build anything with us afterwards.

  • Share the idea

Tell us what you want to build and why, and hand over whatever you have — a pitch, notes, sketches, a spreadsheet, a vendor’s proposal, or just a conversation. We agree exactly what question the plan needs to answer and what you will receive.

  • We scope & design

Our expert engineers do the real work — capturing requirements, sizing the build, designing the system and pricing it honestly. We move fast and ask the focused questions others skip, rather than disappearing for weeks.

  • We validate the plan

We pressure-test our own plan the way we would a vendor’s — ranking the risks, checking the numbers and resolving the technical unknowns that would otherwise surface mid-build — so what you receive is de-risked, not just drawn up.

  • Build it — with us or anyone

You receive a written plan in plain English — scope, design, estimate, timeline and quote, with risks ranked and next steps obvious — plus a call to walk you through it. Build it with us, take it in-house, or hand it to another vendor. No obligation either way.

When to bring us in

The moments a plan pays for itself

If any of these sound familiar, a few days of expert planning now will save you far more time and money than learning the hard way mid-build.

You have an idea but no plan

You know what you want to build and you are ready to move, but there is no scope, no design and no number yet. We turn the idea into a plan you can actually act on.

You need a credible budget for investors

Investors, a board or stakeholders want a real cost and a real date before they say yes. We give you a defensible estimate, timeline and quote built from a proper breakdown — not a guess.

You want to avoid over-building v1

It is easy to pour months into features nobody needs yet. We cut the scope to the smallest thing that proves the idea, so you launch sooner and spend less.

You are unsure what is technically feasible

Some of what you want may be hard, expensive or not possible the way you imagine it. We tell you what is realistic, what it will take, and where the cheaper route is — before you bet the runway on it.

A vendor quote feels off

Someone has given you a scope and a price, but something does not add up. We scope and design it independently so you know whether the quote is fair, padded or wishful — usually your gut is right.

You are about to rebuild

An existing version is creaking and a rebuild looms. We plan it deliberately so you fix the right foundations once, keep what works, and do not carry the same problems into the next version.

FAQs

MVP planning FAQs

The questions founders usually ask before bringing us in.

How long does it take, and how does pricing work?

Most MVP planning engagements run from a few days to a couple of weeks, depending on the size and ambition of the idea. Pricing is straightforward — a fixed fee for a defined deliverable, agreed before we begin, with no open-ended hourly meter. You know exactly what you are getting, when, and what it costs before we start.

Can you build the MVP for us afterwards?

Yes, if it is a good fit — building MVPs is something we do, with expert engineers paired with modern AI agents, on a delivery cadence you choose. But there is no obligation, and we never pad a plan to win a build. Plenty of clients take our plan and execute with their own team or another vendor, and we make sure you can.

What do you need from us to get started?

Just enough to understand what you want to build and why. A pitch, notes, sketches, a rough feature list, a vendor’s proposal, or simply a conversation is plenty. The clearer you are on the problem and the users, the sharper the plan — but bringing us a blank page is fine too; shaping it is part of the job.

What does the deliverable actually look like?

A focused written plan in plain English: a requirements and scope summary, a system and architecture design, a work breakdown with a realistic estimate, a timeline and a quote, and a ranked list of risks with how to reduce them — plus a call to walk you through it. Something a founder, a CTO and an investor can all read.

How is this different from just hiring a developer?

A developer you hire is incentivised to start building, and tends to estimate the work they want to do. We are independent — when we are planning, we are not bidding for the build, so we will happily tell you the scope is smaller than you thought, that part of it is not feasible, or that your current plan is already sound. You also get expert engineers across architecture, estimation and risk, not one person’s view.

Is everything confidential, and will you sign an NDA?

Yes. We are glad to sign your NDA before we see anything sensitive, and we treat your idea, plans and commercial details as confidential by default. If you do not have an NDA, we can provide one — independence and discretion go together.
