Expert technical advice
before you commit
Independent expert engineers you bring in to make better technical decisions and de-risk your software work — whether you build it with us or not. You walk away from every engagement with a clear, written deliverable you can act on.
Why ICE Team consulting
Clear answers, written down
Less time guessing, more time deciding
Bring us a plan, a codebase or a decision you are stuck on, and we turn it into a clear technical assessment you can act on. Every engagement ends in a written report and a walkthrough call — not a vague verbal opinion.Genuinely independent
When we are advising, we are not pitching. We have no stake in selling you a bigger build, defending a vendor or protecting a sunk cost — so you get what we actually think, even when the honest answer is to keep your current plan.
Expert engineers only
You work directly with people who have designed, shipped and inherited real systems. They have made the calls you are weighing, under pressure, so they know which risks actually bite — no junior hand-offs, no generic templates.
Fast, concrete output
You get a report or plan in days, not months — in plain English, with risks ranked and next steps you can budget and act on. Something a founder, a CTO and a board member can all read.
What we help with
Four ways to get expert eyes on it
Pick the question you need answered. Each one is a focused engagement that ends in a clear, written deliverable — not a vague verbal opinion.
Requirements & system design
Bring us what you want to build and we turn it into a clear technical design any team can build against. Architecture, data models, APIs and tech choices get decided on paper — where changing your mind is free — so the build starts on solid foundations.
- A documented system design: architecture, data models and key API contracts
- A recommended tech stack with the reasoning behind each choice, in plain English
- A phased delivery roadmap, sequenced by dependency and risk
- A walkthrough call so your team fully owns the design
Estimates & quotes
Most projects blow their budget because nobody scoped them honestly up front. We break the work down properly and produce realistic estimates and timelines you can actually plan against — so you see the real cost and the real risks before you commit a cent.
- A work breakdown that turns a vague idea into concrete, sized pieces of work
- A realistic timeline with milestones and the key assumptions stated
- A clear quote or proposal you can budget and plan against
- Risks and cost drivers flagged, with cheaper alternatives where they exist
Plan validation (second opinion)
Before you commit time and money to someone else’s plan, we pressure-test it independently. We review another company’s or vendor’s scope, architecture and estimate, then tell you what is solid, what is missing, and what is being over- or under-scoped.
- A clear verdict on whether the plan is sound, and where it is weak, with the reasoning
- Risks, gaps and hidden assumptions the proposal glossed over
- An honest read on whether the estimate and timeline are realistic, padded or wishful
- Specific questions to put to the vendor — and quick wins to negotiate in
Code audit & technical review
Inheriting, buying or scaling a codebase? We give you an independent, in-depth assessment of what you are actually working with: code quality, architecture, security, scalability, test coverage and tech debt — reviewed by expert engineers, not a scanning tool.
- A prioritized findings report covering code quality, architecture, security and scale
- An honest read on test coverage, tech debt and maintainability
- Severity-ranked issues with concrete, actionable fixes
- A remediation plan with rough effort, so you can budget the next steps
From question to clear answer
A lightweight engagement designed to get you something useful fast — no long ramp-up, no heavy commitment, and no obligation to build anything with us afterwards.
Share the context
Tell us the decision you are facing and hand over what you have — requirements, a vendor’s proposal, repository access or a rough idea. We agree exactly what question you need answered and what you will receive, so scope is clear from the start.
We assess or design
Our expert engineers do the real work — designing the system, scoping the work, validating the plan or auditing the code. We move fast and ask the focused questions others skip, rather than disappearing for weeks.
You get the deliverable
You receive a written report or design in plain English — findings ranked, decisions justified and next steps obvious — followed by a call to walk you through it so nothing gets lost in translation.
Optional follow-on
Want us to go deeper, advise as you execute, or build it with you? We can. And if you take it elsewhere, you leave with everything you need to do that well. There is no obligation either way.
When to bring us in
The moments a second opinion pays for itself
If any of these sound familiar, a few days of expert review now will save you far more time and money later.
Before you commit budget to a big build
You are about to spend real money and want to know the plan is sound before you sign. We validate the scope, design and estimate so you commit with eyes open, not crossed fingers.
Choosing or evaluating a dev vendor
Several agencies, several proposals, and no easy way to compare them. We translate the jargon, expose the gaps, and tell you which quote is realistic and which is wishful thinking.
Inheriting or acquiring a codebase
You are taking over software you did not build and cannot yet trust. We assess what is actually under the hood so you know what you own before it becomes your headache.
Technical due diligence for investment
Before you write the check, you want an independent read on the tech, the team’s choices and the real engineering risk. We give investors and acquirers a clear, honest verdict on what is behind the pitch deck.
An estimate or timeline that feels off
Something about the numbers does not add up, but you cannot put your finger on why. We scope it properly and tell you whether your gut is right — usually it is.
Planning to scale an existing product
What got you here will not get you to the next order of magnitude. We assess where the architecture will crack under growth and what to fix first, before your users feel it.
FAQs
Consulting FAQs
The questions clients usually ask before bringing us in.
How long does an engagement take, and how does pricing work?
Most engagements run from a few days to a couple of weeks, depending on the size of the plan or codebase. Pricing is straightforward — a fixed fee for a defined deliverable, agreed before we begin, with no open-ended hourly meter. You know exactly what you are getting, when, and what it costs before we start.
Can you build it for us afterwards?
Yes, if it is a good fit — we build SaaS products, custom software and games. But there is no obligation, and we never steer you toward a build just to win one. Plenty of clients take our report or design and execute with their own team or another vendor.
Are you really independent, or is there a conflict of interest?
Genuinely independent — that is the whole point of this offering. When we are advising, we are not bidding, defending a vendor or protecting a sunk cost. We will happily tell you a build is smaller than you thought, that your current vendor’s plan is fine, or that you do not need us at all.
What do you need from us to get started?
Just enough to understand the decision you are facing. For design and estimates, that is your requirements and a short conversation. For plan validation, the proposal or documents you are weighing up. For a code assessment, read access to the repository and a quick walkthrough of how things run.
What does the deliverable actually look like?
A focused written document in plain English — a system design, a scoped quote, a validation report or a prioritized findings report — with concrete recommendations and next steps, plus a call to walk you through it. No jargon walls, no vague slide decks.
Is everything confidential, and will you sign an NDA?
Yes. We are glad to sign your NDA before we see anything sensitive, and we treat your code, plans and commercial details as confidential by default. If you do not have an NDA, we can provide one — independence and discretion go together.
